Ramble and Rant

So I just read this article , and it stirred some strong emotions in me. I am super not a fan of this Abercrombie & Fitch quote, I mean, how shallow can you get? I was also an unattractive, overweight kid in my earlier years, and I'm beginning to be grateful for that. I feel that that time I spent knowing I wasn't supermodel material, or anything remotely close to it, helped me to develop a REAL personality. A song by Hot Chelle Rae that plays at my store says "She knows she's hot, but that's all she's got," and I think that hits the nail on the head. I'm not saying that no one who is naturally gifted in physical appearance can be a good person, I know some very sweet and intelligent attractive ladies, but I think it's very hard. Naturally good-looking people generally don't have to work as hard to make friends, 'cause all the not-so-attractive people are clamoring to be near them, to bask in their glory - and that is so WRONG! In High ...

Tales of a wanna-be florist

So here are the promised pictures of my floral escapades! Hooray! First up is Krista, my high school buddy who's getting married this Friday! Woot woot! Her pictures are adorable too! :D Krista's flowers were all silk, and it was SUPER nice being able to do all the work in advance, no rush. The wires in the silk flowers were a super pain to cut through, except when I used my BFF's 'tin snips' as she called them. This was the first bridal bouquet I ever attempted, so go easy on me, eh? ;) The main body of the bouquet was pretty easy, it all just came together real nice, but adding the cascade to it was a MAJOR pain! >:( It just wouldn't cooperate!! I had to take the whole thing apart 2 or 3 times and start over, which was kinda frustrating. But it turned out lovely, and I am satisfied :) Top part - done in just over an hour. The rest took me a few days :P Photography by Jennilyn Proulx with www.dezemberphoto.com Photography by Jennilyn Proulx ...

WOW how the time flies! ONLY 55 DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait! Not only do I get to marry this super hot stud man, I get to see a bunch of my old pals, too! :D Some of the people I am most excited to see - Haley and Lisa! I haven't seen Haley in 4 or 5 years, and I haven't seen Lisa in almost 7! Both were good friends in elementary school, and were casualties in the Moving-to-Utah battle :/ But they're coming!!! Another friend got a mission call today! Going to SINGAPORE!!! How legit is that?!? :D Now I'm going to know a missionary in South Africa, Korea, Japan, Italy, Brazil, Singapore, (My Guatemala missionary got back this month - YAY!) and...Texas, Washington state and Wisconsin.  ;) How exciting! It's great to see these wonderful people go out to serve the Lord and spread the work! WAY TO GO, YOU GUYS!!!! :D On a less happy note, I got REALLY sick at work today, felt awful and was scared to drive myself home. I made it back alive, ...
Just noticing that smiley faces aren't looking so good in this font... :P :(

PLANNING A WEDDING IS SOOOOOOOOOOO CRAZY!!!! Lots of fun, but crazy :) We picked out and bought my dress last week!(So pretty!) Here's a picture of it. :) ( Picture from the Abella Bridal blog, no copyright infringement intended. You never can be too careful these days :P ) I'll have to post a picture of the dress with the veil some time, it is stunning how well they go together and with the theme! :) My seamstress, who has been doing alterations for decades said she has never seen a veil made out of this kind of material! It's a patterned lace with gorgeous beading around the edges. OH, that's another thing - I went to my first dress fitting, too! :D I am so excited, the dress looks much better without the shoulders sticking up a couple inches and the hem too long :P :D My mother-in-law-to-be (That's a mouthful, eh? Not as bad as my old school name, though. KGMPA is the ACRONYM! So long!) came with us, and that was great! :D She is just the sweetest thing, ...
Hello, everybody! I don't know if you're really out there, but I'm writing to you anyway. I've found it always helps to write to an audience, real or fake as they may be :) So you get to be audience to my journal-like rambling about life-lucky you! ;) Ok, so random facts about me, just to kick-start this story: My favorite color is purple. I love purple! Before I moved out of my parents' house they created a room for me, from scratch in the unfinished basement. SUPER neat, 'cause I'd never had my own room before! I got to choose which color the paint would be and -ta-dah!-the Purple Fortress was born! Random quirk of mine - I name things. Lots of things. My car, my dad's car, all my stuffed animals (I have lots!) my sister's potted tree, all sorts of crazy stuff! I made it into such a habit that my family's started bringing me stuff and asking me to name it! (Hence naming my dad's car and my sister's tree.) I love to read, ESPECIALLY an...
